What is the World Wide Weave?

International Textile Project and Exhibition

The Exhibition

An awe-inspiring series of 75 wall-hangings in weaving, tapestry, felting and other techniques marks Camphill's 75th anniversary 1940-2015. They have been created specially for the exhibition by 65 textile workshops in 19 countries worldwide. The completed panels are being displayed together to celebrate the manifold creative life of communities in the UK and Ireland and in other regions. Communities taking part are in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Russia, India, Vietnam, South Africa, United States and Canada.

Where can it be seen?

From December 2014 to January 2016 the work was shown in 20 locations in the UK and Ireland, in public buildings, art galleries and museums. The 2016 tour includes venues in Switzerland, Canada, United States, Norway and Finland. The panels are also on sale (if you are interested please contact us).

Extraordinary Lives

Camphill is at the forefront of promoting the understanding that people living with developmental disabilities and learning differences have truly extraordinary creative talents and skills of all kinds, practical, social and artistic. It is this affirmative message that we wish to convey. We very much hope that you will share in our enthusiasm for this project celebrating Camphill residents' special and unique qualities and achievements, making Camphill's 75th birthday a year to remember.
